The annual Knoxville Panthers vs. Cancer event will be held on Friday.

Knoxville Panthers vs. Cancer is aimed at raising funds and awareness for cancer, helping community members overcome a cancer diagnosis, and having access to the best care and treatment plans possible. Last year, the community raised over $36,000 to help the fight against cancer, with 100% of that money staying local and being donated to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.

The event makes money through donations, shirt sales, and a silent auction. Festivities and a ceremony will take place between the girls and boys varsity basketball games against Clarke. The link for the online silent auction is now live and items can be bid on here. The event will also include Locks for Love hair donation, the National Anthem performed by the Chamber Singers, a dirty soda bar, chuck a duck, and a free will donation race. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics CEO Kevin Kincaid says Panthers vs. Cancer is a great event, and that he is thankful for the hospital being the recipient of the funds raised from the event.

“I just don’t think I can think of any community event that pulls the community together more than that one. That is an amazing event, and for us to be recognized and a benefactor of the community’s generosity though that process is really a blessing for us. We put those funds that are raised local, we keep them local and we keep them 100% to the mission of cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.”

Friday’s girls game will start at 6:00 pm. Those who ordered a Panthers vs. Cancer shirt can pick it up tonight at 6:30 pm in the high school commons.
