Pella’s girls wrestling team added a few more local dates due to cancellations before winter break, and an opportunity arose for the Dutch to compete close to home, including this week.

The Dutch defeated North Polk 66-6, Winterset 72-6, and Boone 46-30 at Central College on Tuesday. Head Coach Adam Hale says three members of the staff, including himself, graduated from Central College, as did Boone’s head coach, so they reached out to see if they could compete at the Kuyper Gymnasium.

“I think it’s really cool that our girls along with the ones from the other teams got to experience wrestling on a college campus. Coach Miranda and Coach Buck have really worked hard on building on positive culture. They’ve got some great leaders in their room and have recently added some solid recruits, including our own Isabella Smith,” Hale said.

Pella returns to action at DCG Thursday before hosting a home invitational tournament this Saturday at Pella High School.
