The Iowa Nite Hawk football team will again play their home games this coming season at Newton’s H.A. Lynn Stadium. This week, the Newton School Board unanimously approved a “Letter of Agreement” that allows the minor league Midwest Football Alliance team to lease the school district’s Stadium for up to five games this year. The dates will be determined later, and school district activities will take priority over the Nite Hawk games.
Under the agreement, the Iowa Nite Hawks will pay the Newton School District $750 for each 4-hour use of the stadium with lighting, with each additional hour costing an additional $175. The Newton School District will also be paid $300 per game to supply an event manager, and $40 per hour for a district custodian during the games. The Iowa Nite Hawks will keep 100% of the gate revenue from each game, and be responsible for event staffing, parking and traffic control, and stadium clean-up. In addition, no alcohol or tobacco products will be allowed at the games, and the team will keep in place during the season and for one year thereafter, a minimum $2 million general liability insurance policy that lists the Newton School District as an additional insured.
