The recently hired Pella Public Works Director carries a unique background and journey to leading the maintenance of infrastructure in the City of Pella.

Wilfrid “Wilf” Nixon joined the department as its leader in the Fall of 2025 after nearly three decades working as a Professor at the University of Iowa, specializing in research related to public works. He’s also served on various national organizations related to the industry, including the Professional Snowfighters Association and the American Public Works Association. Wilf says he was drawn to public works by developing a passion for improving snow and ice maintenance.

He moved to Pella to continue his career due to the ongoing support to highlight and showcase the community’s rich history.
