Jasper County Emergency Management has announced the date for the 3rd Annual Jasper County EMS Impact Conference. It will be Saturday and Sunday, January 9th and 10th, 2027 at DMACC in Newton. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson says planning for the conference is already underway, as organizers build on what worked at the first two annual conferences and attempt to raise the bar even higher.
This year’s conference had 116 registrations from emergency medical service personnel from throughout Jasper County, and was held last weekend on the Newton DMACC campus. It included Robinson leading a hands-on cardiopulmonary lab with pig hearts and lungs provided by the JBS meatpacking plant in Ottumwa. The pig organs share a similar structure to the human cardiopulmonary system. UnityPoint LifeFlight and Iowa Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative also provided information about Diabetic and Agricultural emergencies, Pediatric Trauma and Respiratory emergencies, and OB Emergency Delivery.
