The Jasper County Board of Supervisors will hold budget hearings next week for the 2026-2027 County Budget. In Iowa, counties must adopt their yearly budgets and file them with the County Auditor by April 30th for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1st and runs through June 30th of the following year.
The Jasper County Supervisors will have multiple budget hearings everyday next week, except for Tuesday, which is when their regular weekly meeting is held. The hearings begin Monday and will deal with the General Assistance Office, the County Recorder’s Office, Human Resources, the Sheriff’s Department, the Board of Health, and Community Development and Zoning. A complete schedule for the 2026-2027 Jasper County Budget Hearings can be found on the Jasper County website.
If an Iowa county misses the April 30th budget filing deadline, their property tax levy is limited to the prior year’s budget amount.
