State Representative Jon Dunwell wants to get state legislation passed to deter the use of black market abortion pills. The Newton Republican says the pills put the health of the user at risk.
“We have statistics from across the nation about how this endangers women’s health. They are able to buy it on the open market on the internet, without a prescription, and it’s not always given out in the proper doses and really impacts women’s health.”
According to Dunwell, there have been instances where the black market abortion pills were given to women by human traffickers and abusers to end a pregnancy without the women even knowing it.
The Iowa House District 38 Representative also says he continues to work on legislation to ensure that dealers selling drugs laced with fentanyl face severe penalties.
