As Norwalk moves into a busy 2026, city leaders are encouraging residents to stay engaged as several long-term planning efforts continue to move forward.
During the city council’s first meeting of the new year, City Manager Luke Nelson said the city is entering important stages of development in multiple areas, including the southwest growth corridor and ongoing projects in Norwalk Central. He said those discussions will continue to appear regularly on future council agendas. Nelson tells KNIA News residents have easy access to information if they want to follow along or provide input.
“Probably the best way to be knowledgeable about the actual new businesses or where the developments are happening, I think our economic development department does a great job of having a website where they provide that information, it has updates and new businesses that are coming to town.”
In addition to economic development updates, Nelson encouraged residents to review city council agendas, noting that agenda items include background summaries, funding details, and maps outlining proposed projects.
Looking ahead, the city council is beginning formal budget planning for the next fiscal year. Early budget discussions will focus on growth trends, infrastructure needs, and maintaining services as the city continues to expand. City officials say public awareness and participation will remain an important part of the process as Norwalk plans for the year ahead.
