American Legion Post 89 in Pella and the Marion County Commission of Veterans Affairs will hold a pork loin supper on Monday, January 26th.
The event will take place at 6:00 pm at First Church and is free for local veterans and their spouses. Representatives of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Iowa Veteran’s Home and Quilts of Valor will be present and the 5th Grade Flag Essay Contest winners will read their essays. Executive Director of the Marion County Commission of Veterans Affairs Rob Bandstra says American Legion or VFW membership is not required, and all veterans from Marion County are encouraged to attend.
“We’re just kicking it off in Pella, and if we have success, we could do this in Knoxville or other communities as well. One thing I do need to pass on to our veterans audience is that we’re inviting veterans and their spouses, and we need to RSVP to get a solid head count so our caterer knows exactly what they’re in for, for that event.”
RSVPs for the meal are required by noon on Monday, and can be made by contacting First Church at (641) 628-3493.
