For the first time in four years, the #5 in 3A Pella boys basketball team knocked off Dallas Center-Grimes in a doubleheader heard live on 92.1 KRLS. The Dutch defeated the Mustangs 53-46, while the #14 in 4A girls fell to #4 DCG 76-48.

The nightcap of the twin bill featured 24 ties or lead changes as neither Pella or DCG led by more than six points in the game until the final minute. The Dutch battled through foul trouble and the 6-7 and 6-10 post height combo, overcoming a six-point third quarter deficit to find victory.

Jack McGuire scored 15 points, Austin Schulte had 14, and David Garner tallied 12 points and four blocked shots despite some early fouls racking up.

The Dutch girls were down just by two points at the end of the 1st quarter, only for the home team to open the 2nd with a 12-0 run. Emma Walkup finished with 15 points and Riley Parks added 12.

The Dutch boys improve to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference, while the girls are 7-5 with a 3-3 league record; both are back in action at home Tuesday against Des Moines Christian.
