Updates to the Radiology Department is a main priority for Knoxville Hospital and Clinics in 2026.
The hospital has seen extensive renovation and remodel in the last several years from the completion of the Don and Margaret Long Infusion Center, the Weiler Specialty Clinics, and the Emergency Department, but CEO Kevin Kincaid says there is still work to be done. The hospital was constructed in 1980 and according to Kincaid, there are only a few spots left in the building that are original to 1980, including the radiology department. Kincaid tells KNIA/KRLS that with patient privacy being much more prevalent in medicine today, that updating the current radiology space is a priority for the hospital this year.
“The Radiology Department is going to be a real focus for us to expand and remodel that space. We need the department to be bigger, we need it more modern, but really one of the key emphasis we’re putting on, and people have heard this before in our construction and updates we’ve done in the ER and the clinic, when you built things in 1980 you just really never thought about, talked about, or planned for patient privacy. It just really wasn’t a thing, well it’s a big thing now. People expect and want a more private experience.”
The hospital also hopes to do expansion of their operating rooms in the near future.
