After many delays, the Marion County Junction 92 project is expected to be substantially complete by the end of January.
The shop project will merge four county shops into one and was first approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2022. Since the project started, it has had numerous delays and is 13 months past when it was originally scheduled to be completed. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says substantial completion is a step in the right direction and that the project is under budget.
“Substantial completion does not mean 100% completion it just means that the project has the ability for the owner to move in at that point and there are punch list items that are yet to be completed which are generally minor things. As far as the budget for the project we are under budget by roughly a quarter of a million dollars to date via change orders but we are just extremely behind schedule.”
The new shop is located at 1805 Old Highway 92 in Knoxville.
