It was a busy sports weekend of Knoxville as boys and girls wrestling and bowling was in action on Saturday. Starting with girls wrestling the Panthers placed third in a field of mostly larger schools at Pella. Knoxville had three 1st place winners in Serenity Turner, Cally Landis and Mariah Ripperger. Landis and Ripperger both won all of the matches by pin and Turner won two matches by pin and the final by major decision. The boys were in Centerville and placed 7th out of 14 teams. Regan Roberts won the 285 pound weight class for the 2nd straight year while Hunter Lund took 3rd place at 126 pounds. The bowlers were taking on Red Rock Rival Pella at Statesmen Lanes on Oskaloosa and lost both boys and girls meets. The boys fell 2617-2312. Troy Binns led Knoxville with a 367 series and a high game of 209. The girls fell 1941-1664. Tarah Carter had a high game of 142 and a high series of 248. The bowlers head to Centerville on Thursday. Girls wrestling has a home dual with Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Thursday and the boys will travel to Collins/Maxwell for a rescheduled quad on Tuesday.
