The Knoxville City Council will start annual budget presentations at their meeting tonight.
Starting Monday and typically lasting until mid-March, the Knoxville City Council hears budget presentations at each of their meetings from different city departments. The city breaks it up over several meetings, to give the council time to process each department’s budget, rather than receiving all the presentations in one night.. The presentations break down the annual fiscal year budget for each department, provide the council and public with information regarding spending, and highlight any potential changes or projects coming up that will be funded. The first budget presentation will be for the Public Works Department.
Also at the meeting the council will consider authorizing an application for a Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund grant in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Marion County for 2026, and the meeting will close with a closed session regarding Section 21.5 (c) Litigation of the Iowa Code. Tonight’s Knoxville City Council meeting will start at 6:15 pm at City Hall.
