Newton Cardinals Girls’ Basketball has now been around for 50 years, and that milestone is being celebrated with a special night. On February 6th, anyone who has participated in the Newton Cardinals Girls’ Basketball program over the past five decades is invited back to cheer on the current team as they host Oskaloosa on Senior Night.

Several special events are planned for the evening. A demonstration of 6-player girls basketball will be held during halftime of the girls game, while a reception for the former alumni of the girls basketball program will occur in the multipurpose room between the girls and boys games. The very first Newton High School girls basketball team, from 50 years ago, will be introduced during halftime of the boys game.
