Newton’s boys and girls wrestling teams get to wrestle at home for the fourth time this season tonight, while the Cardinal boys swim team participates in the Indianola Invite.

Cardinal wrestlers will battle Dallas Center-Grimes. Girls from both squads were at the Ogden Invitational on January 10th. The Mustangs finished 8th, while Newton was 15th. The Cardinal girls haven’t wrestled since then, while Dallas Center-Grimes has participated in two meets. The Newton boys are 0-4 in duals this season, losing to Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, and Pella. The team is coming off an 8th place finish out of 13 teams at Saturday’s Bettendorf Midwest Shootout Invitational.

The Cardinal boys swim team will be taking on Grinnell, Oskaloosa, and host Indianola. All four of these teams met earlier this season at the December 6th Newton Invite. The Cardinals won their own event with 350 points. Indianola was second with 291 points, followed by Oskaloosa at 267, Grinnell at 169, and Vinton-Shellsburg with 64.

The wrestling meet against Dallas Center-Grimes at Newton High School and the boys swim meet in Indianola both start at 5:30 tonight.
