Norwalk’s Keegan Kraft, Brayden Plourde and Kingston Smith were recognized for Senior Night on Tuesday as the Des Moines Lincoln boys swim team won their home triangular against Mason City and Des Moines East. The Rails placed first in 10 out of 11 events and scored 102.5 points, improving their season record to 11-3-1.
Kraft, Plourde and Smith are the team’s only three seniors and among 14 Norwalk student-athletes competing for the Lincoln swim team this season. Kraft won the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley events on Tuesday while Plourde won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. Smith placed second in the 500 freestyle and took third in the 200 freestyle.
Additional first-place finishes by Norwalk individuals included Daxton Hughes in the 500 free, Dylan Wright in the 100 breaststroke and Dayton Wright in the 100 butterfly. Norwalk swimmers also contributed to Lincoln victories in all three relay events.
The Rails’ next meet is the Iowa Alliance Conference Meet in Ames, slated for Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
