The Newton boys and girls wrestling teams fell to Dallas Center-Grimes at Newton High School on Thursday.

The Cardinal boys lost to the Mustangs 63-12. Newton picked up one win at 120 pounds, as Kent Montgomery won by fall. The other six points came by forfeit at 106 pounds. The Cardinal girls earned five contested wins by Kylee Adams at 110 pounds, Leamsi Sanchez at 120 pounds, Shawna Foreman at 155 pounds, Grace Guy at 170 pounds, and Ashlyn VanManen at 235 pounds. 

Newton’s wrestlers will both return to action Saturday. The boys will be at the Iowa City High Clyde Bean-Brad Smith Duals, while the girls will compete at the Colfax-Mingo Girls Wrestling Tournament.
