
Four Pleasantville varsity athletic teams were in action on Thursday.
The Pleasantville boys wrestling team went 2-1 at a quad hosted by Albia. The Trojans beat Central Decatur 48-30, Davis County 42-30 and fell to Albia 41-36. Gage Hilgenberg, Blake Rowson, Paul Gasparovich, Lane Clark, and Nathaniel Oliver all went 3-0 on the night while Carter Messamaker and Jax Bingham went 2-1. Rowson surpassed an impressive milestone on Thursday by reaching 150 wins for his career. Earlier in the season Rowson surpassed 100 career pins and also broke the Pleasantville school record for career pins. The Pleasantville boys wrestling team will next compete on Saturday at Belle Plaine.
The Pleasantville girls wrestling team went 0-3 at a quad hosted by Colfax-Mingo. The Trojan girls fell to BCLUW 47-23, Colfax-Mingo 42-24, and West Marshall 48-29. Josie Howrey, Amelia Latch, Hayden Edwards, and Addie Koenig all went 3-0 on the night for Pleasantville. The Pleasantville girls will next compete on Monday at home.
The Trojan girls and boys basketball teams both fell on the road at Des Moines Christian in a West Central Conference varsity doubleheader. The games were originally supposed to be played on Friday but were moved up a day due to expected extreme cold temperatures.
The Pleasantville girls dropped their contest to the #2 ranked Lions 75-24 and were led in scoring by Harper McGraw who had ten points and Liv Klootwyk who had six. The Trojan girls fall to 6-8 on the season. The boys team fell in their contest 67-43 and were led in scoring by Drake Elliott who had 16 points and Braylon Bingham who had 10. The Pleasantville boys fall to 7-6 overall.
The Pleasantville girls and boys basketball teams will be back in action on Thursday against Lynnville-Sully.
