
The PCM girls and boys basketball teams extended their respective winning streaks with wins over Greene County at home Thursday night in a Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader.
This was a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Friday but was moved up a day due to extreme cold forecasted temperatures. The #7 PCM girls blew out the Rams to extend their winning streak to 14 games. The Mustang girls put together another impressive defensive performance leading 29-6 at the half and closing out the game with a lopsided 63-18 win. The Mustang girls were led in scoring by Kyra Naeve who had 17 points and Libby Winters who had 15. The PCM girls improve to 15-1 overall and remain perfect in conference play.
The Mustang boys extended their winning streak to five. PCM led the Rams 28-19 at the half and continued to pull away in the second half to earn a 61-41 win. The PCM boys saw 11 different players enter the scoring column as Chase Wagaman led the way with 12 points as Kevin Thomas and Abe Kiernan both had 11. The PCM boys improve to 11-4 overall and sit at second in the conference standings.
The Mustang basketball teams will next compete on Tuesday against Grand View Christian.
