The family of a young girl who died shortly after her fifth birthday will keep her memory alive through acts of kindness again this winter. The family of Milly Rose Zellmer encourages the community to share how they are helping others through Milly Moments, starting today through February 16th.
Milly died in a sledding accident on February 16th, 2023, and her eighth birthday would have been today.
“Milly spread so much love and kindness in this world, we want to encourage people to do the same thing by showing kindness to those around them,” said Kristi Zellmer, “Milly had a special way of making everyone around her smile. We would love for these ‘Milly Moments’ to be a part of everyone’s life, especially from her birthday to the anniversary of her death. This will help us smile as we remember her beautiful heart.”
A Book Bash hosted by Families First of Pella and the Pella Public Library has special meaning as well. Youth Services Librarian Katie Dreyer says the celebration of reading is honoring the life of the late Milly Zellmer on Saturday, January 31st from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., as the event is sponsored by her family has part of Milly Moments and The Milly Rose Foundation for Kindness.
Families who attend can receive a free book, “Daniel Tiger Chooses to Be Kind,” and enjoy a wide range of free activities geared for children ages six and younger.
