The Knoxville School Board will continue a consideration of a district attrition plan at their regular session meeting on Monday due to declining enrollment.

This personnel committee recommendation was presented at the last school board meeting and there was then a special session held as well later that week. According to the district, due to a larger-than-anticipated decline in enrollment in October 2025, the projected shortfall for the 2026–27 school year is $205,000. The subsequent school year will reflect a significantly greater shortfall as a result of the one-year budget guarantee. The personnel committee recommendation is not replacing six different positions after retirements and resignations and retaining two others. The attrition plan was not passed at the last meeting.

Further discussion of the personnel committee recommendation is the only agenda item for Monday night’s meeting, which will start at 5:30 pm at the district office.
