The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident on Interstate 80 near Colfax Sunday night that killed an Illinois man from the St. Louis area. According to the State Patrol, twenty-two-year-old Drew Peterson of Worden, Illinois died when one set of tires and rims came loose from an eastbound semi-trailer, and hit his westbound 2022 Honda Accord. The accident happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday near mile marker 157, approximately two miles east of Colfax.  

The Iowa State Patrol lists the uninjured driver of the semi as fifty-seven-year-old Rose Burns of Jackson, Tennessee. The current accident report lists no charges connected to the incident, but the Iowa State Patrol’s investigation is continuing.
