The Newton School Board will start their evening an hour earlier than normal tonight, as a work session is scheduled before their regular board meeting.

The work session that starts at 5:30 p.m. will deal with the district’s finances. Board members will be given a 5-year review, and then a five-year forecast, for the General Fund. They will also receive an overview of the district’s year-to-date expenses. The agenda for the regular board meeting includes recognition of state qualifiers in fall sports and activities, and updates on the construction work at Aurora Heights and Thomas Jefferson Elementary schools and the Little Hawkeye Conference.

Tonight’s regular Newton School board meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the earlier work session will both be held at the EJH Beard Administration Center at 1302 First Avenue West.
