Keeley Kehrli and Jenna Joseph each captured individual titles to lead Simpson College women’s wrestling to a second-place finish at the American Rivers Conference Championships.

No. 6 Kehrli successfully defended her conference title, earning back-to-back pins and closing with an 8-7 decision in the 160-pound final. Joseph captured the 180-pound championship with a dominant 10-0 technical fall and a pair of decision wins, including an 8-2 victory in the title match.

Layla Phillips and Ashley Cannon both finished runner-up after four-win tournaments, with Cannon’s only loss coming in a close 4-1 decision. No. 9 Emaline Hicks placed second, while Kendra Bliss earned a pair of quick pins to secure her silver medal.

Sarah Zimmerman claimed third at 110 pounds, and Vanessa Aguirre rounded out Simpson’s all-conference medalists with a third-place finish at 131 pounds.

Wartburg captured the team championship with 173.5 points, while Simpson finished second with 137.5. 

The Storm will next compete at the Loras Open on Saturday, Jan. 31.
