The Knoxville School Board approved a district attrition plan Monday.
This personnel committee recommendation was presented at the last school board meeting and then tabled after citizens expressed concerns about the proposal. There was then a special work session held a few days later to further discuss the impacts of the plan, primarily how it will affect the TAG program. On Monday, the board moved forward with the plan which is not replacing six different positions after retirements and resignations and retaining two others. This plan was implemented due to a projected $205,000 budget shortfall after a larger than anticipated decline in enrollment.
The attrition plan was the only agenda item at Monday’s meeting.
