The Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad was held to 18 points and fell to top seed Ankeny Christian on Monday night 69-to-18 in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament quarterfinals. The Eagles led 29-to-six at halftime and effectively put the game away in the third quarter. Melcher-Dallas will move to the consolation rounds on Thursday. It is the girls turn in the Bluegrass Conference as the Melcher-Dallas Saints take a trip to Diagonal to take on Ankeny Christian. The Saints played the Eagles on January ninth and lost 59-54. Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports her team was not at full strength and thinks things will be different the second time around.
Goff : “It was great to see the upper classmen say we’ve got this and to see them be that excited talking about this and we’ve been going since we played them. They’re very confident that we can get that win against them on Tuesday.”
The Saints will play either Diagonal or Seymour in the next round of the BGC Tournament on Friday.
