
The Newton girls bowling team claimed the Two Rivers Conference Bowling Championship Monday at Cardinal Lanes. The Cardinals’ 2,361 pins was 83 pins better than Oskaloosa, who finished second. Four Newton bowlers were in the top ten individually. Gabbie Humphrey’s 550 pins placed her third, while Breleigh Slings was fourth with a score of 475. Mackenna Burns’ 465 pins was good for sixth place, while Aeris Archer tied for 10th with a score of 448. Lili Baxin was just outside the top ten, taking 12th with 442 pins. The Newton girls bowling team will compete in the Class 2A Region 4 State Qualifying Meet at Plaza Bowl in Clinton next Monday.
