The Norwalk basketball teams aim for a Little Hawkeye Conference sweep tonight in a girl-boy doubleheader at Pella Christian. The girls contest will tip off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys game at approximately 7:30. Pregame coverage on kniakrls.com (KNIA3) begins at 5:45.

The No. 3 in Class 4A Norwalk girls improved to 13-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play with Friday’s 56-27 home win over Pella. The Warriors have won six consecutive games since a five-point loss to top-ranked in 3A Maquoketa on December 20. Pella Christian’s last game resulted in a 58-37 win over Oskaloosa on Thursday. The Eagles improved to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in the LHC. Norwalk defeated Pella Christian 69-17 in their first meeting on December 12, led by Braylyn Birmingham’s 23 points.

The Warrior boys look to get back on the winning track tonight following consecutive losses to Ames and Pella on the heels of a nine-game winning streak. Norwalk lost a hard-fought 58-56 decision against Pella on Friday night, falling to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the Little Hawkeye. The Warriors beat Pella Christian 56-29 the first time around, led by Tillman Papcun’s 20 points, but expect a much tougher game tonight. The Eagles are 9-5 overall and 2-5 in conference play, and have won back-to-back games. They held off Oskaloosa 52-50 on Thursday, paced by Gilbert Flagel’s 24 points.

Tonight begins a stretch of six out of seven road games for the Norwalk girls and seven out of eight games away from home for the Warrior boys.
