The Pella School Board held an extended closed session on Monday before getting to their regular meeting. The board first gathered for superintendent interviews and to discuss the three finalists before going into their regular meeting. The agenda included approval of the academic calendar for 2026-27, fees for the Little Dutch Academy, and an additional DMACC course. Another closed session was then held for finalist review for the superintendent position, with the board directing Grundmeyer Leadership Services to make a verbal contract offer at the end of the meeting.
The three finalists were interviewed in person on Monday prior to the evening’s session. School Board President Elisa Klahsen says the process was considered closed by Grundmeyer Leader Services, and thus, the names of those not selected will not be publicly disclosed. That was meant to attract better candidates by allowing those who applied to avoid potential ramifications for trying to leave their current positions.
