The Pella and Pella Christian Large Group speech teams had several acts advance to the Iowa High School Speech Association state contest after advancing from the district site hosted in Pella on Saturday. The hosting Dutch earned 13 “one” ratings and 3 “two” ratings, with the division one scores advancing to the state competition.

Pella Christian had nine of ten acts earn “I” scores as well, including:

Ensemble Acting – The 146 Point Flame
Ensemble Acting – The Lottery
Musical Theater – The Prince of Egypt
Musical Theater – Alice in Wonderland
One Act Play – Rags
Reader’s Theater – Tuck Everlasting
Short Film – The Scientist & the Gnome

All City Speech Night is Thursday January 29th at Pella High School, starting at 7 p.m., with performances from both schools featured and proceeds from the evening split.
