The Marion County Board of Supervisors heard a county comprehensive plan update at their meeting Tuesday.

A representative from the Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance and Marion County Zoning Director Missy Poffenbarger spoke at the meeting about the timeline of the comprehensive plan. The plan is a document designed to guide the future actions of the community and provide a clear vision of what the community aspires to be, typically over a 10-20 year span. The vision is supported by a framework of long-range goals, which address various aspects of community life.

Also at the meeting, the board heard a Marion County Library Coalition FY27 budget presentation, which included updates on the current funding the five county libraries receive from the county and potential additional funding that the coalition is seeking. No action will be taken until the annual county budget session. The board then held discussion regarding disposition of county property in Tracy, which the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency wants to take over. No action was taken, but the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency anticipates moving forward with an offer for the property.

The meeting closed with the board approving a bridge replacement supplemental service agreement and a local option sales and service tax fund request for the Knoxville area pavement rehabilitation project.
