The Central College women’s basketball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 72-43 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan Wednesday night, while a strong start wasn’t enough for the Dutch men in an 87-66 loss.
After struggling to score for most of the month, the Central women crossed the 70-point threshold for the first time since December 6th. The Prairie Wolves also scored the fewest points allowed by the Dutch all season. Twelve different Dutch players scored, but CeCe Moore and Kaitlyn Mumm led the way with 17 and 15 points respectively. Moore also had 15 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
After a pair of overtime wins last week, the Central men played Nebraska Wesleyan to a 32-32 tie at halftime in the nightcap. The 95 minutes of game time a week ago caught up to the Dutch in the second half however, as the Prairie Wolves outscored them by 21 points in the final 20 minutes. Kyle Cason and Owen Schipper each scored 14 points to lead Central offensively, while Bradley Curren had 13 and Braylon Thomsen added 12.
Central is off this weekend, before returning to action next Wednesday in Dubuque for a doubleheader at Loras starting at 5:30 pm.
