The Knoxville Boys Wrestling Squad met Carlisle in the final duel match of the season and the Panthers were defeated 68-to-ten. Just two Panthers won matches with Hunter Lund winning via major decision at 126 pounds and Regan Roberts winning by pin in just over a minute. The Panthers will return to the mats this Saturday hosting the South Central Conference meet.
A chance to make the state meet is in front of the Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad today as the Panthers head to Ottumwa for the State Qualifier. Several wrestlers have had great seasons and have a chance to clinch a spot at state with a top two finish in their weight class. Serenity Turner, who has qualified for two state meets under the Knoxville banner and is ranked #6 in the latest IAWrestle poll, tells KNIA/KRLS Sports she had to get into a different weight class, but feel confident about her chances.
Turner: “I’m going down to 105. Cassidy Mcallister is in my weight class, and she’s a good wrestler so that’ll be tough if we cross paths, and then it’s on to state.”
Also eyeing state is #10 at 140 pounds Cally Landis, who has had a great year, along with Andie Branson…Alyssa McCreery and #5 at 235 pounds Mariah Ripperger.
