
The Norwalk and Indianola basketball teams are set for an All-Warren County Little Hawkeye Conference showdown tonight in Indianola. The third-ranked in 4A Norwalk girls come into the matchup on a seven-game win streak and a 14-1 record. The Warriors are led by the state’s second leading scorer in Sophomore Braylyn Birmingham, who averages just over 30 points a game. For the 11th ranked in Class 5A Indians, they are riding their longest win streak of the season at six games with a win Tuesday over Oskaloosa 52-22. The Indians are led by Junior Madison Grover and Senior Lauren Olson, both of which are averaging double figures. The Indians enter the game at 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the LHC.
On the boys side, the Norwalk boys are trying to complete the season sweep, as they beat Indianola 57-49 back in December. The Warriors come into the game off a road win at Pella Christian 44-32. Norwalk is led by Junior Tillman Papcun, who averages over 21 points a game. The Warriors are 10-4 overall with a 6-2 LHC record. Indianola will play their third game this week after losing to Southeast Polk Monday and beating Oskaloosa Tuesday. The Indians have been shorthanded , but look to be back at full strength when they hit the floor against Norwalk. Indianola sits at 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the LHC.
