Chase Spencer announced he will seek the Republican nomination for Iowa House District 37.
Spencer says he looks forward to engaging with voters across the district in the months ahead to share his vision for a stronger future for south-central Iowa.
“I’m entering the race for Iowa House because Iowa needs the next generation of leaders at the Statehouse,” Spencer said. “We need leaders who understand small businesses, the value of hard work, and the importance of bringing new ideas to the table. My campaign will focus on economic growth, supporting small businesses, strengthening education, and making it easier for young families to put down roots and thrive in small-town Iowa.”
Spencer is a Monroe native and Prairie City-Monroe High School graduate. He attended Des Moines Area Community College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Politics at Drake University. While at Drake, he launched his own small business. Spencer currently serves as Program Manager for Drake University’s Entrepreneurship Center, where he works with entrepreneurs across Iowa to strengthen local economies and create jobs.
Additionally, Spencer has organized car shows supporting the Gathering Place Community Center and serves as a trustee in the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
Spencer will appear on the Republican primary ballot on June 2, 2026, for Iowa House District 37. The district includes Marion County, southern Jasper County, and western Mahaska County. Spencer will be challenged by current Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt.
