The Knoxville basketball Squads will head to Eldon for the final South Central Conference game of the season against Cardinal. The girls look to finish off conference play trying to steal a win, which would be the first of the season. Coach Tracy Wilkins tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he will throw some different looks at the Comets and try to get them off their game.
Wilkins: “We are truly going down to try to steal one. That’s one of the better Cardinal teams we’ve seen, they have a really good post player. We’re going to attempt to throw something different at them and play my style of defense which we’re never done this year.”
The boys are looking to finish off an unbeaten conference slate after clinching the title all to themselves Tuesday in a record setting night in Albia. The Panthers set school records for most made threes with 20, Lincoln Norris broke his own school record with 12 makes of his own and Drake Larson set a school record for the most assists in a game with 13. And Norris’s 38 points is tied for the 5th most in school history. Cardinal defeated Melcher-Dallas last night for just its 4th win of the season, none of those have come in conference play. Live coverage of tonight’s double header is on 95.3 KNIA at 6:15.
