Norwalk will host its annual Nexus show choir contest all day tomorrow at the Norwalk Performing Arts Center, featuring 22 show choir groups competing across four different divisions. The first performance is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m., and admission is $15 for all-day access.

The event brings students, families, and spectators from multiple schools and states to Norwalk for a full day of performances and competition, while also highlighting the district’s fine arts programs. Since beginning in 2020, Nexus has grown into one of the district’s largest annual events, requiring coordination between school staff, volunteers, and community organizations to operate throughout the day. Norwalk Schools Superintendent Shawn Holloway tells KNIA News the contest reflects the strong support the Norwalk School District receives from the community.

“I spent some time at Nexus last year, and I think the takeaway is, as with most events, the success doesn’t just come from school employees, clearly they’re a large part of that, but the booster club, the music boosters, and parents, and just the number of volunteers that it takes to run that event. When you’re just there as a spectator, it seems so seamless. But, there’s a coordinated effort behind that end product.”

In addition to the 22 competing groups, Norwalk’s Sound Sensation, Sound Adrenaline, and Sound Revolution will compete in exhibition. Daytime awards are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with finals to follow.
