The Indianola City Council proclaimed both an annual “Chris Street Day,” which was recognized on the late Indianola icon’s birthday, February 2nd, as well as an annual “Burn Awareness Week,” which will be the first week in February from here on out. City Manager Jake Meshke says there were a few different ways these proclamations came to be.

“Chris Street being a legend in this community is just an opportunity to honor him as an individual. How they come out are a couple different ways. They can come to the city council and it may be an annual recurring item that we recognize year over year. It could be a group or individual in town that brings to recognize a specific circumstance, situation, person or event.
