The Simpson basketball teams travel to Storm Lake today to take on the Buena Vista Beavers. The Storm come into the matchup splitting the doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan Wednesday. The women’s team won 87-51, while the men lost 65-62. 

For the Storm women, they are just one game ahead of the Beavers coming into today’s matchup. Simpson is 7-4 in the A-R-C, while Buena Vista is 6-4. The Storm won the game 75-66 in Indianola fueled by 22 Ella Anderson points and 13 rebounds as well. Freshman Kiera McCormick has been turning it up lately for the Storm with her 23 point performance Wednesday, marking her second 20+ performance in her last three games. 

The Beavers had the middle of the week off and haven’t played a game in seven days. Last time out for Buena Vista, they rolled to an 89-52 home victory against Dubuque in which both Bradi Krager and Tyme Boettcher had 20+ points in the contest. Overall, those two plus Mary Walker are averaging double figures. 

On the men’s side, a valiant effort against the top team in the A-R-C came up just short Wednesday night. The Storm men come into today’s game with three starters averaging double figures and sitting at 5-6 in the A-R-C. For the Beaver men, they are 4-7 in the A-R-C, coming off an 84-71 home loss to Dubuque. Buena Vista has four players averaging double figures.
