Operation of the Newton Sanitary Landfill will be discussed tonight by the landfill engineer, local waste haulers, and interested members of the public. It’s part of Newton Mayor Randy Ervin and Newton CIty Staff’s preparations for the 28E annual Budget Workshop. The Newton Sanitary Landfill is operated under a 28E agreement between the City of Newton, Jasper County, and ten other communities within Jasper County.

Items scheduled to be discussed tonight include capital projects and equipment, recycling operations, year-end data, and proposed budget items. The public meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the large Public Works conference room, Suite 501, at 303 West Fourth Street North in Newton.
