Kicking off the final week of the regular season, the Pella Christian boys basketball team cruised past Hillcrest Academy Monday night for a 70-42 victory heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Ravens captured the momentum early, leading 8-5 at the 5:30 mark of the first quarter, but the Eagles finished the period on a 15-2 run to grab a lead they didn’t relinquish. After holding a 28-18 lead at halftime, Pella Christian outscored Hillcrest Academy 42-24 the rest of the way to improve to 12-8 overall. Eight different Eagles scored in the contest, with Gilbert Flagel leading the way with 20 points. Trey Steinkamp and Ben Van Wyngarden also reached double figures, with Trey contributing 15 points and Ben adding 11.
The Pella Christian boys rejoin the girls basketball team in Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight, traveling to Dallas Center-Grimes for a doubleheader that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS at 5:45 pm.
