The Newton School District now has an arrival date for the new ADA-accessible bleachers that will be installed on the east side of the football field and track at H.A. Lynn Stadium. Newton School Superintendent Tom Messenger shared that expected delivery date with the school board on Monday.
“We have a delivery date on the bleachers, which is May 4th. It takes two to three weeks for installation after they get delivered. So we are within a couple of months of seeing things getting started back up over there.”
The new ADA-accessible bleachers will have handrails and wider aisles. There will also be a new press box on the visitor’s side of the stadium. The total cost of the improvements is $751,550. Caliber Concrete in Adair is supplying both the bleachers and the press box.
Instead of going to the scrap pile, the old bleachers were re-installed at the Jasper County Fairgrounds in Colfax.
