David Hann of Melcher was found guilty on one count of second degree child sexual abuse in Marion County District Court on Friday.

Sixty-one-year-old Hann’s trial was held this week, where he faced six charges of second degree child sexual abuse after being arrested in May for multiple alleged sexual abuse incidents that occurred over a six year period from 2015 to 2021 with a minor under the age of 12. Court records indicate that Hann is accused of making several unwanted sexual advances against the victim. Closing statements were held on Thursday morning and the jury deliberated for almost a full day before reaching a verdict around 2:30 pm Friday.

The jury presented their verdicts on the six counts to Judge Michael Jacobsen Friday afternoon in which they found Hann not guilty on the first five counts and guilty on the sixth count of second degree child sexual abuse, a class B felony. Hann’s bond was immediately revoked and he was then transported to the Marion County Jail, where he will await sentencing.

Hann is scheduled to be sentenced on March 26th at 1:30 pm. Hann will face up to 25 years in prison and have to serve a mandatory minimum as child sexual abuse is a forcible felony. The case was prosecuted by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
