The PCM boys wrestling team will travel to Centerville for their Class 2A District Meet today as the girls basketball team will host Saydel in their opening game of regional play.
The Mustang boys wrestling team will compete at Centerville High School as several individuals will look to punch their ticket to the Iowa High School Boys State Wrestling Tournament. Tucker Wheeler will start his quest for a state title in his senior year as he finished second at the state meet last year. Kaliber Fry will also look to earn a trip back to the state meet after qualifying last season. PCM’s site will feature Centerville, Albia, Chariton, Clarke, EBF, Fairfield, and Fort Madison. Today’s District meet will start at 10:00 am.
The PCM girls basketball team will host Saydel in their opening round of Class 3A Region 6 play. The Mustangs are 20-1 overall and have won 19 games in a row with their only loss of the season coming to Carlisle in November. PCM fell just short of a trip to the state tournament last year after falling to Williamsburg in their regional final. Then Mustangs and Eagles are familiar foes as they both hail from the Heart of Iowa Conference. PCM has beaten Saydel twice already this year as they won 61-13 on December 5th and 53-22 on January 16th. The Mustangs are led in scoring by senior Tori Lindsay who is averaging 14.1 points per game. PCM is only allowing 31.9 points per game. Tonight’s regional contest in Monroe will start at 7:00 pm.
