Free beds are available for kids in our local communities through the non-profit organization Counting Sheep.

Counting Sheep is made of a group of volunteers who create beds and provide bedding for children ages 3-17 who currently have no bed of their own and they currently have beds ready to be delivered. The group hand makes the beds and then delivers them to the child in need. Counting Sheep serves those in Marion County, Lucas County, and individuals who reside in the PCM School District. To receive a bed there must be an accessible house or apartment with a room large enough to fit one of the beds, and an application will need to be filled out. The group has now delivered 158 beds in total and  Larry Lamb with Counting Sheep says the group wants to make it a priority that no kids in our local communities are sleeping on the floor.

“What we actually do is we locate children between 3-17 that currently don’t have a suitable bed or are sleeping on the floor and we build a basic and functional bed and provide a mattress, mattress bed, sheets, and a quilt or some sort of comforter to go on top of that bed.”
