Three Norwalk swimmers competed for Des Moines Lincoln on Day 2 of the Boys State Meet on Saturday, while the Warrior boys basketball team lost 63-49 at Dowling Catholic.

Norwalk seniors Keegan Kraft and Brayden Plourde, along with sophomore Daxton Hughes, teamed with Blake Bennett in a pair of relays at the Iowa Boys State Swimming Championships in Iowa City. Representing Lincoln, the quartet placed 21st in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.30. They also placed 19th in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:20.06. Plourde and Kraft, who swam the anchor legs on Saturday, also competed in a combined three individual state events on Friday.

A slow start proved costly for the Norwalk boys basketball team at Class 4A fourth-ranked Dowling. The Warriors fell behind 22-7 after one quarter and committed 13 turnovers in a 63-49 defeat. Audric Pelzer made four 3-pointers and led Norwalk with 17 points. Jameson Demaray scored nine points, followed by Tillman Papcun with seven, Andrew Abbott six, and James Hatlevig and Lane Livingston with five apiece.

The Warrior boys fell to 14-6 overall. They will finish the regular season on Tuesday night at ADM. Tip-off is set for 7:15.
