A proposed pay increase for a county department director and public hearings related to the county highway department highlight Tuesday morning’s Jasper County Board of Supervisor’s meeting.

Jerry Nelson with the Veteran’s Commission is scheduled to talk to the county supervisors about increasing the salary of Veterans Affairs Director Ray Maxey. The 24-year Marine Corps veteran and former Marshalltown police officer was appointed to the position in March of last year. 

Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch will ask the county Supervisors to set  public hearings for the vacation of the Right-of-Way Easement on South  28th Avenue West, west of the Iowa Interstate Railroad’s rail crossing west of Colfax. He’ll also lead a public hearing on a 28E Agreement between Jasper County and the City of Monroe,  regarding Rodeo Avenue, which is also known as East Washington Street. 

Tuesday’s Jasper County Board of Supervisors meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Board Room on the second floor of the Jasper County Courthouse in Newton.
