The Norwalk High School robotics team will represent Iowa at a first-of-its-kind national robotics tournament in Washington, D.C., later this week.
Norwalk’s RoboWarriors were selected by the Iowa Department of Education and the Governor’s Office to compete in the FIRST United States Governor’s Cup. The competition will be held February 19th-22nd at DAR Constitution Hall.
The Governor’s Cup, organized by Experiential Robotics in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education, will bring together top high school robotics teams from all 50 states in a bracket-style national tournament. Each team was selected to represent its home state and will compete using the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics platform.
The national event is designed to highlight student achievement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with an emphasis on hands-on learning, teamwork, and innovation. Norwalk’s selection places the RoboWarriors among the top student robotics programs in the country, allowing the team to showcase its skills on a national stage while representing both their school and the State of Iowa.
Following the Governor’s Cup, the RoboWarriors will also compete in the Iowa First Tech Challenge Championship, which will be held Friday and Saturday, February 27th and 28th, at Xtream Arena and GreenState Family Fieldhouse in Coralville.
