A rich tradition of excellence continued this winter for the Pella High School Large Group speech team. Two Iowa High School Speech Association All-State nominations were received in 2026 for the Dutch, including in One Act Play “Cotton Girls,” featuring Lyndon Norton, Olivia White, and Kai Lyons, and the Group Improv Team “Williams/Buckingham,” featuring Elias Fisher, Eric Buckingham, Ethan Flanders, Gavin Williams, and Isaac Vandenberg. Both nominations were non-performing, but the team will still head to the 2026 All-State Speech Festival at Iowa State University on Saturday, February 21st. The individual speech season starts on Saturday, February 28th.
